Communications

Hi All!

If you haven’t received an email from me recently, I’m sorry! Card-making and videos have been going on business-as-usual on my blog, but apparently Feedburner decided not to tell anyone. Actually, turns out it was a new policy instituted by Yahoo! and AOL about email marketing, which impacts blog notifications. Anyway, long boring story.

The bottom line is that it hasn’t worked for about 3 weeks, which appears to be the length of time after which everyone notices, including me. 🙂 Thank you to all of you who alerted me to the situation.

Because email notification is so important, I decided to take this opportunity to move to a paid service. For those of you already signed up through Feedburner, no worries, you have been transitioned to the new system. You are not required to do anything and nothing will change for you.

So while I was moving over to this new service, I thought it would be fun to add an email subscription list for crafty enabling. In addition, my sister has a Stampin’ Up! distribution list you can add yourself to. Here is a short description of each list:

  • Blog Posts – If I make a blog post, you will receive an email notification. Simple. If you are reading this post in an email (which you should receive sometime on Friday), you are already signed up.
  • Crafty Sales and Deals – Sometimes online stores have sales, free shipping, special deals, etc. If I hear about something good, I’ll let you know. I suspect this list will receive maybe 1-3 emails per month.
  • Stampin’ Up! News – my sister sends out emails with the latest Stampin’ Up! news, such as sales, product announcements, and promotions. She sends about 1-2 emails each month.

To subscribe to one of the two new lists, see the right margin of my blog (click here to go to my blog). Enter your email address and select the lists you would like to be added to.

Keep in mind that you can unsubscribe from any list at any time. And, your email address is kept only with me (and my sister in the case of Stampin’ Up!), and not shared with anyone else for any reason.

If you don’t like email, you can always keep up-to-date with me by liking my Facebook page.

Be sure to check my blog for posts you have missed this month, including FREE SHIPPING at Stampin’ Up! through Friday and a special collaboration I did with Catherine Pooler, Part 1 and Part 2.

Be back Wednesday with something fun!

Finish My Card Collaboration, Part 2

You're a Star

You're a Star

Hi All!

Today is Part 2 of my fun collaboration with Catherine Pooler. This time, she created the beginning elements, then I finished them in today’s video. If you didn’t get a chance to see her create the watercolor circle and stars, check out her blog post, then come back to see me complete the card.

Instead of doing my typical voiceover, I spoke while creating the card. I’m curious to know which method you prefer. Gosh, you’ll realize how much I edit out, lol! Dumb mistakes, forgetting to zoom out, etc. And I know it got a little slow in some places.

I hope you enjoyed our collaboration. It sure was great getting to know Catherine. Don’t you just love meeting new crafters? Card-making just bonds people together so instantly! I love it.

Anyway, enjoy the video and have a great week!

Darlene

Finish My Card Collaboration, Part 1

Finish my Card

Happy Monday All!!

This is my second post today. Scroll down or CLICK HERE to read some exciting Stampin’ Up! news.

A few weeks ago, Catherine Pooler contacted me about doing a “finish my card” collaboration. I am so excited and honored to work with her on this project! Here’s how it works…

We decided that each of us would create an embellishment with sentiment and snail-mail it to the other person (I’m in Texas and she is in North Carolina). We would then finish each other’s card by creating the base and background.

Today is part 1, where I create the embellishment and Catherine finishes the card. Part 2 will take place on Wednesday, when Catherine will create the embellishment and I will finish the card. I must say that this is kind of a challenging project when you are combining styles on a single card! I’m so excited to be doing this though – it’s good to get out of your comfort zone. 🙂

And believe it or not, as I post this, I have no idea what she’s done – I can’t wait to see!

Alright, so here we go with my creation of the embellishment. There will be a direct link to Catherine’s video at the end of my video, or you can scroll down below for a link to her blog post. Enjoy!

So are you ready to see what the finished card looks like? Me too! Head on over the Catherine’s Blog to see.

Stampin’ Up!: FREE SHIPPING and the Retired List!

freeshipping
UPDATE: Okay, I know I said I would comment in the “comments” section if I found anything interesting after I read the Retired Lists, but I was really surprised at a few things, so I felt it warranted an update in the post. My thoughts:

There are other disappointments, but these are the major ones, in my opinion. I guess we now need to look forward to what will be released in June. 🙂

———————————————————————————–

Hi All,

Okay, so it’s a big day on the Stampin’ Up! front. Two announcements:

  1. FREE SHIPPING today through Friday. No limits, no minimums. Does not apply to expedited orders. Very rare deal for Stampin’ Up!.
  2. The retired lists have been released. For those of you not familiar with these… Stampin’ Up! releases an annual catalog every June. One month before, they announce all the products in the current catalog that will NOT be in the next catalog. If it’s not in the catalog, you can’t order it. So, be sure to check out these lists and take advantage of the FREE SHIPPING to order these products while you can. Keep in mind that retired items are only available while supplies last. Which, in some cases, is not long.
    • Retiring Stamps (Available April 21-June 4, 2014, or while supplies last)
      PDF
      Excel (good for sorting)
    • Retiring Accessories (Available April 21-June 4, 2014, or while supplies last)
      PDF
      Excel (good for sorting)

Just a friendly reminder that my sister donates 20% of EVERY order to Foster Kids Charity. Please consider shopping at her store.

I’m about to sit down with my coffee to go through the list. I will add to the comments section if I find anything super interesting. 🙂

Have fun shopping and see you Wednesday!

Darlene

A Sale and Some Random Info

Happy Thursday everyone!

Many of you actually requested that I keep you informed of sales going on at Ellen Hutson. Well, there is a Spring sale – 15% off everything in stock. Ellen already has great pricing on Copics, but with the 15% off, markers are $5.10. That’s a great deal, and Mother’s Day is right around the corner! Sale is now through Saturday. Use code springsur at checkout.

Need help deciding on colors? See the Copics section of My Favorite Things for suggestions.

And in Stampin’ Up! news… yesterday they announced they are releasing a Project Life suite of products. I just recently started using Project Life and cannot tell you how much I love it. I am planning on doing a video about it in the near future to share with you what I have learned. Anyway, I thought it was worth mentioning that all the Stampin’ Up! coordinating colors will now be part of Project Life. Although sometimes I get down on Stampin’ Up! for being a follower, this time I’m glad they are following! The products go on sale May 1st. Stay tuned for more info on that in a couple of weeks.

Also, the Stampin’ Up! retired list is going to be released Monday. For those of you who don’t keep up with Stampin’ Up!, every year they retire certain products, never to be sold by SU again (well, sort of, as they may come up on the Clearance Rack). They make the announcement of products and give you about a month or two to purchase them. After that, you’ll have to resort to eBay. Anyway, just wanted to give you a heads up. I will post the list here on Monday. The new annual catalog will be released June 1st.

Okay, I think that’s it for now. Have a great weekend and I’ll be back Monday with a special video.
