Explosion Cards!

Explosion Card

Explosion Card

Hi All!

Today I have two examples of an “explosion card”. The fold used in this card is called a Turkish Map fold and it has been around for a long time. I thought this was the perfect time to break out my Owl Punch! The inside is made using printer paper so that it has almost no bulk. So, when you open it, it’s very unexpected. I made the card in a “celebrate” theme so that it could be used for birthday or congratulations. Here is a photo of the card completely open:

I used Copic markers to create a textured belly for each owl. Here is a close-up:

When I first started creating this card, I filled my background with lots of very colorful balloons. When I put the owls on top of this background, it was just too busy. So, I left the balloons as-is and made it into a completely different card with the cutest little bunny on the front:

The front of both of these cards is very simple because I wanted the inside to be a vibrant surprise!
