Wednesday’s Card: CAS Christmas Card

Deco Trees

Deco Trees

Hi All!

I absolutely love this die set by Simon Says Stamp. The swirlies are just so interesting. I originally was trying to make a card using the tree die cuts, but then I realized that the negative image was even prettier.

This is my new favorite green – it’s called Green Apple by Simon Says Stamp. There is an ink pad and matching cardstock.

Enjoy the video and have a great week!

Darlene

  1. Can you confirm that the measurements for the white panel are 5-1/2 x 3-1/2? I thought I already posted this but didn’t see it come up.

  2. You said you cut the white cardstock to 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 but the die barely fits on the cardstock and doesn’t seen to leave as much room as shown on your card. Are those measurements correct? I have the SS die that you used.

  3. Wow! It’s so beautiful! It’s so simple yet so pretty at the same time! That die set is so unique with those swirls. Great job! 🙂

  4. Gloria Taylor says:

What a clean, easy, and fun card to make for Christmas. Thank you, Darlene, also love the Christmas music in the background.

  5. Nice card. I like how you used the negative.

  6. Tres cool, that Apple Green is fast becoming my new fave, too.

  7. Live this card. CAS with a lot of punch!

  8. Darlyne Wagner says:

Excellent card, Darlene! That tree die is so cool with all those swirls; you made a simple card look totally elegant and masterful. I am going to hate to see the holidays end and thus all these clever holiday cards will end. I love your videos.

  9. Very Nice… I love that color.. and that die is to die for.. it is on my wish list.. Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring

  10. I am loving your contemporary tree cards. The green apple color is great! The sequins seem to be popular. A nice change from pearls and rhinestones.

  11. Terrie Crawford says:

Yay!!! It’s Wednesday!! I had such a stressful day at work today. I got so excited when I realized it was Wednesday and time for a new card! I really look forward to this each week since subscribing to your blog. I had a chance to check out the other blogs on the hop you just did and yours is by far the best. Thanks for bring that spot of joy to my day each week! Keep those wonderful ideas coming!

  12. Darlene – once again you did it!! Love this card. What a fun die. Enjoyed watching you create this. You’re the best!

  13. Celeste Goff says:

Such a super cute card! I love die cuts…they are my new passion!

  14. Ha,ha, that should have said dies… They are on my wish list.

  15. Beautiful. Those does are only wish list.

  16. Another great video & card Darlene! I agree with you that the negative tree die is wonderful! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

  17. Linda S. in NE says:

What a great video. So clever of you to custom color the sequins with an alcohol marker. Are the mylar shims you used a “real” commercial product, or an idea of something you came up with that works just perfectly to get a clean cut with detailed dies?

  18. Anita Holmes says:

I love the card, so clean and retro looking! Love the green color…..you always do such an amazing job!
Thanks for sharing, love your video’s.
    Hugs
    Anita

  19. Casey Thrush says:

I love it!!! That green apple is a great color and I really like that you used your copic marker to color the sequin’s to match. Great job as always!!!

  20. Maria Rodriguez says:

I love this Green Apple CS, it’s a non traditional color but it looks amazing behind this beautifully die cut trees. I’ve never seen that “Pick me Up” stick tool Darlene, is one of the ends sticky to pick up the sequences or did you put a bit of glue on it? I think I need to get me one, I had a very hard time placing this teeny tiny hearts on this cards I made, I wish I had one of this tools, it would have made this a lot easier.
Thank you so much for another fantastic video of this lovely Christmas card.

    • Darlene DeVries says:

Maria, one of the ends of the stick is actually sticky. I also find it very handy for the owl punch pieces.

  21. I absolutely love this card! I never thought of coloring the sequins. Love the die, the colors, everything!

  22. Pat Myers says:

I love your videos on your card making, but I especially love that you fast forward through the parts that would be very tedious to watch. Your shortcuts really save a lot of time, but you get the point across. Loving your blog!

  23. Kathy Weber says:

Darlene, where did you find those mats you used with the dies?

  24. This is lovely!!!

  25. Robin in WA says:

  27. Didn’t see the mylar (sp?) shims in the dets. Where do you get them?
