  1. Hi Darlene,
    Hello from Australia!
I love your blog and follow your beautiful projects on You Tube.
I was just wondering if you could tell me, can you emboss over a water based ink or does it have to be chalk? I know with my Tim Holtz inks, I am unable to emboss as the ink soaks into the card and dries too quickly.
    Thanks again, Lynda.

  2. Hi Darlene, sorry to mention this here, but I couldn’t leave a comment in the ‘Ask me’ page.
I sent you an email a few days ago, I was wondering if you have received it. The email would have come from (gromat@gmail.com). Please contact me, as I would like to know what your thoughts are on the subject that I mentioned in the email.

  3. I love this card! Thanks for the tip about being able to emboss with the neon inks (:

Such a fun card…love those neon colours.

  5. Robin in WA says:

Don’t you love those neon inks? My granddaughters have them and I used them once and was pleasantly surprised how lovely they are. Thanks for another beautiful card and great video!!

  6. Alanniedawn says:

This is another reason to support your recomendation to start off with pigment inks first. You can save money on embossing powders since you just need clear with pigment inks. By the way it is a great tip.

  7. Laura in CO says:

Wow Darlene, another stunner of a card and I sure don’t know how you could have packed any video with more useful tips than you did in this one, thank you!! Love that ruler tip, had not seen that before! As usual, I was so impressed with how your layout came out so perfectly. I know you like to measure before you stamp, maybe I missed you doing that on this one but that Happy Birthday fit just perfect in the space left in the middle, that is so cool! I had wondered if you cleaned your stamps the same way, same wipe cleaner, after using pigment inks as you do using dye inks, and it appears you do, that’s great info, too. You totally rock Darlene! = )

  8. Debbie Bonczek says:

You said it was simple . . . but it was effective and shiny! Love this card.

  9. Robin in Plano, Tx says:

I went and bought the stamp set today. I had been wavering on weather to buy it but you gave me the inspiration to go ahead and get it. (It was even on sale!). You always inspire so many people. I always look forward to Wednesdays just to see the next great card idea.

  10. Celeste Goff says:

Another amazing card Darlene! That bright, in your face, neon color is perfect for the bold font on the stamp!

  11. Darlene – I have hesitated to use my Neon Inks before – now I have your great idea. Thanks! I love the way you added the tiny stars. This would be a great masculine card or a day brightener for anyone. So great of you to share your ideas. I’m going to try embossing the Versafine ink as well.

  12. Carol B says:

Great card, very fun with the Neon inks. Embossing with black can create a mess at times, love how your words are so perfect by using the clear embossing powder, note to self try this next time you want black embossed.

  13. Maria A. Rodriguez says:

Oh Darlene, what a great idea to clear emboss the black pigment ink, I get all flustered when I see those little black specks on my otherwise perfectly embossed image. You are so clever and I love it that you share this amazing ideas with us. I can see beautifully clean embossed images in my future. Love the Neon colors, so festive and bright, I bet they look even more amazing in real life.
Dear girl, I too hope you can still be able to be doing your videos for a very, very long time.
    THANK YOU!!!!!

  14. LOVE this bright, fun card!!!

  15. Casey Thrush says:

Love it!!!! You always do sooooooo good on your videos. I hope you do them FOREVER!!!

  16. Aah. I cannot believe I didn’t think of clear embossing black ink ages ago. Projects will be so much cleaner. Thanks.

  17. Sharon Hayes says:

Great idea to clear emboss black pigment ink. When I use the Versafine black onyx, I have to be very careful because it will stay wet a long time. And I love that ink for sentiments and silhouettes. I will emboss it clear. Thanks for the idea.

  18. Great card and how fun! I have those neon inks…need to use them a bit more. Loved the idea of embossing the neon inks.

I, too, use versafine and emboss it with clear too….I still like using black embossing powder but this is definitely an easier and cleaner way to go for pretty much the same look!

Wonderful card, Darlene! I think I will try something similar right now! 🙂

  19. This is adorable! Cool tip that the neon inks will emboss. I never paid attention to them still being wet. I agree with black ink and clear embossing rather than black embossing powder. It does look much neater! Thanks for a cute idea for a birthday card!

  20. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I love your card. And I felt like you posted this just for me. 🙂 I’ve had my Hero Arts neon inks and the Glow Girl set for a while now and I finally took them out over the weekend to play. I stamped samples of the ink colors and noticed some of them were taking a while to dry. I never thought to emboss the images. I can see the embossing on your card and like the look. And I’ve never embossed with my Versafine Onyx Black. Thanks for that tip, too. I may have to CASE your card since I own the MFT Mod Borders, too. See, I told you that I felt like you were talking directly to me. TFS.
