Wednesday’s Card: Heart of Flowers

Heart of Flowers

Flowers Bag Heart of Flowers Zoom

Hi All!

I’m teaching 5 classes between Monday and Thursday this week, then no Zumba for 3 days! I’m going on a scrapbooking retreat. I’ve only been once before and loved it. I can’t wait!

After my class on Monday, one of the girls said, “That’s it? It’s over??”. We actually ran a couple of minutes over the hour and I burned almost 600 calories! It really made me feel like I am doing something worthwhile. I mean, I liked my office job, but it just seemed so inconsequential (well, aside from the paycheck part, which i miss!). Anyway…

I’m excited about this card for 2 reasons… First, it’s something that I think most people have the supplies to make. It doesn’t require a lot of special products, and I know everyone has lots of miscellaneous flowers in their stash! I bought this bag of flowers a few years ago – just a mish-mosh of various colors and styles. I combined them with a few other flowers I had on hand.

The second reason I’m excited about this card is because it’s personalized. I LOVE to give personalized cards. Think about it – what if you received a handmade card with your name built right into it? Wouldn’t you just go, “awww – how nice!”. Danielle is my sister and I made this card for her for Mother’s Day.

The first version of this card was… not good. The heart was all deformed. Then I got the idea to make a template, so this is card #2. I just used plain ol’ printer paper. I called it “typing paper” before I realized that people probably don’t call it that anymore!

One problem I had with this card was the clear letter stamps. I mean, I love the style and I love Hero Arts. But, the dot to my “i” came off. And, the “i” stamp mushed up on the paper and got a little too wide. That is part of the reason why rubber is superior to clear stamps – that wouldn’t happen with rubber. Anyway, I’m living with it – it doesn’t look that bad – does it?

Hope the rest of your week is great!
