Post-Holiday Enabling…

Hi All!

Today is the first day you can order from the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog! As I mentioned yesterday, Stampin’ Up! always has just two active catalogs. The Annual Idea Book & Catalog is the big catalog that comes out every June 1st. Then, for the first half of the year, the Holiday Mini-Catalog is active. For the second half of the year, the Spring Mini-Catalog is active. Once a catalog is done, it’s done. There may be a few things that will carry over to the next catalog or stay available for a period of time to order, but most of the items are then retired.

You know, sometimes I like the mini catalogs, and sometimes I’m just not a huge fan. The one that is out today is one of the better ones Stampin’ Up! has released, in my opinion. I thought you might like to see what I ordered from it, so far…

Secret Garden Stamp Set (129144)

Secret Garden Matching Dies (129372)

Borders Scoring Plate (126192)

Bitty Butterfly Punch (129406)

Cloudy Day Embossing Folder (127022)

Honeycomb Embossing Folder (129378)

There are also two specials going on in January – Treat-Giving (a Valentine’s stamp and 50 cellophane bags for $5.95… I’m thinking class Valentines treats) and Card-Giving (buy this 4 piece stamp set for $9.95 and get this 10 card-making kit for FREE).

If you are thinking about placing an order, please consider ordering from my sister’s store. She donates 20% of every order to Foster Kids Charity. And don’t forget to check the Clearance Rack while you’re there – lots of great deals!

If you would like to view the online catalog, CLICK HERE.

ALSO… Ellen Hutson is having an Overstock Sale with 845 items – some great winter and holiday stuff. And, there are another 1,122 items in the Warehouse Sale. You can sort by brand in the left margin. The Warehouse sale has 5 pages of Hero Arts stamps!! Wow, that will keep you busy for awhile! I need more time.

Oh, and I also noticed that Scrapbook.com is having an “Inventory Blowout” sale – they have some great stuff at big discounts.

When it comes to crafty items, I love thinking about shopping, talking about shopping, planning my shopping, doing the shopping, and best of all, receiving the items!! Does anyone else think it may actually be more fun than using the items?? Not sure what to think about that. :)

Have a great week!
Darlene

  1. My sister and I have a running joke that we are not so much ‘crafters’ as we are ‘craft supply buyers’ so I totally understand where you are coming from! Thanks for all the great sales.

  2. Sad to say that I should consider shopping to be my hobby rather than stamping. I have to admit that most of the time I find the shopping part more fun than actually using the stamping supplies that I buy. I was just telling someone not long ago that many times when I am making cards it ends up feeling like “work” rather than being fun as I had expected. I should have known I’d be this way when I decided to take up stamping as a hobby. Back when I had a career, my “hobby” was clothes and I could shop a blue streak for them. :) Now that I stay at home and don’t need many clothes my shopping is all for stamping supplies. The only problem is that without the career there isn’t as much money as I would like to have for all the stamping supplies I think I need. :(

  3. After all the glorious thinking, planning and buying, who has time to actually use the stuff? My teenage daughter says my new hobby is “planning cardmaking”. My other hobby is organizing all the great stuff I have!

  4. Yup Darlene, this things you liked are some of the ones I like too. I already have my wish list and the first item in it is that “Secret Garden” bundle. You do save about $7.00 if you order it that way. The other I might get is the Border Scoring plate, I’m not to sure how I will use it but it looks pretty.
Anyway Darlene, thanks for all you do and I can’t wait to see what you will come up with using this things you bought.

  5. Oh, Carolyn, I am sensing I am your kindred spirit, by your comments about planning and organizing.

Happily after reorganizing again a few days ago I have all my anniversary cards made for the year.

Darlene: I sort of searched, but cannot find shipping rates for S’Up. Please, direct me.

That clouds folder looks VERY tempting.

  6. Barb Ghigliotty says:

Hi Darlene ~ Wow, what a great ‘Enabler’ you are!!! I’ve been shopping so much lately, but not enough for myself…so I’m off to check out all these great deals. Thanks so much for the “Heads Up”!

  7. Teresa R. says:

Well, I had to laugh at the last line of your post, because that’s totally me! I love ordering, marking my catties, putting things in my wishlist and then the wonderful anticipation once its shipped. Waiting to receive that awesome box. It’s like a gift all for myself. LOL… So, I have to agree in some ways all of that is actually almost more fun than playing with it when it gets here. :)

  8. Yes, sometimes I think it’s the thrill of having to have it, rather than use a product. It’s an illness I tell you!! Thanks for the info :)

  9. Darlene DeVries says:

Hi Brenda, the shipping for Stampin’ Up! is $6.95 flat rate for up to $70 in merchandise. It’s 10% of your merchandise total beyond that.

  10. Thank goodness there are other people like me!!! The whole preparation of the actual stamping experience is what the excitement is all about ….the selection, the ordering the planning ,then the collection and it use to be at my old address listning for the actual delivery…the sound of the UPS truck, the mailman walking up my front steps. Now, Darlene thanks to you I just have to go look at those pencils !!! I am not a big Prismatic fan (love Copics ,but sometimes I want the colored pencil look) so I going to go poke my nose into Dick Blick`s store…
