Wednesday’s Card: Double Slider Birthday Card!

Hi All!

I guess since last week’s card was kinda simple, I felt like doing something a little more complicated this week. I was actually searching for a different kind of folded card on YouTube and came across this video. I thought it was really cool and decided to give it a try. Here’s the thing – I am about 3 years late to this party! This card has been around for some time. There are lots of different videos on it. Oh well, better late than never! My version has the sliding panel adhered to a regular card base, so you can still open it up like a regular card and write your message.

The plastic bag I used for the sliding mechanism was pretty high quality – thick, slippery plastic. And since it’s hidden, you don’t need to worry about the printing on it.

Anyhoo – enjoy and have a great week!

Note: If you are reading this post in an email, you’ll need to click on the post title above (“Wednesday’s Card”) to go to my blog and play the video.

  2. Superb website you have here but I was curious if you knew of any user discussion forums that cover the
same topics discussed here? I’d really like
to be a part of group where I can get advice from other experienced
individuals that share the same interest. If
you have any recommendations, please let me know.
    Cheers!

  8. Had to watch this again!! I have done this card like 3 times, but I must not be able to do the math or read my cutter right!! The top piece always comes out to big or rather 1/8th to big. Oh well..I still make this card and people just love it! Was going to do this for my Christmas cards, but….naw!! Thanks again for having this on your blog!!

  18. This is an awesome card! Thanks for sharing it and the tutorial. The pic with the measurements will be especially helpful!

And on the unidentifiable animal– I think it looks like a cat– see the long tail, pointy ears, and the line coming down from the nose. He just doesn’t have whiskers. That’s how I see it, anyway.

  19. Absolutely fantastic! You made this seem so easy and “do-able!” Thanks so much for your video and ideas! Another fabulous Wednesday tutorial! [Thought about your daughter this week - one of the girls at our local hair salon stopped traffic to save a neighbor's dog who was running in the street! Everyone was safe in the end, no injuries, thankfully! Hope your puppy is doing well!]

  20. Diana Evensen says:

That’s the best “take” on a slider card that I have seen. I LOVE that it is part of the decorative panel, and you still have a regular card inside for writing a note. Kudos to you, Darlene.
FYI – I discovered on-line video tutorials about a year ago, and have collected several “favorite” sites to check regularly. Your site is the most consistently dependable — I know each Wednesday there will be a great video posted for us. Your personal style happens to really appeal to me, but your professionalizm in managing your site is really admirable. THANK YOU!!!!

  21. Darlene, This card is amazing ! Each time when I learn something new with scrapbooking or card-making, I can be still surprised. And this is the case !!! I love the idea ! Must remember it for a next occasion.
And what I really like about watching your videos, is that it’s always perfectly clear, and your gesture is so precise. You are awesome !
Thanks for sharing Darlene ! Hugs from France !!!

Am doing a mini book [from an old book from a salvage place] for our neighbors’ whose son just passed away 2 weeks ago..so this would be cool inside for journaling and a pic of him on the front.
