Wednesday’s Card: Forever Fabulous!

Forever Fabulous
Forever Fabulous copics

Hi All,

Sorry for the late post today – I had to teach a Zumba class this morning!

A clean and simple card this week. It’s my first Penny Black stamp… I like it! I used Copics to color it in. I wanted my city girl to be very urban and chic. The black dotted background reminds me of steel girders, which you would find in the city, so that’s kind of where my inspiration came from.

My sentiment is from a Stampin’ Up! set called Fabulous Phrases. It has 28 different words that you can use in any combination.

Sale-a-bration started yesterday! Get a free product from the SAB catalog for each $50 you spend. So, if you spend $100, that’s 2 free products, spend $150 and get 3 free products… no limit!

At $150, you start receiving hostess benefits, which starts at $25 in free merchandise and goes up from there, plus a free tote. It starts to add up right? And don’t forget to check out the Clearance Rack – those items count toward your SAB total too! There are still some great deals – especially on punches.

Also a reminder that I donate my 20% commission to Foster Kids Charity. Help me support a worthy cause. :)

On a totally unrelated topic… I posted to my Facebook page last week that I was selected to compete in the Michael’s Craft Master’s competition. It’s a new show on their Web site where they have 3 people compete against each other per episode. We recorded my show last week. It was so cool, yet completely and utterly stressful – being creative under pressure is no easy task for me. They gave us a theme for our craft and 2 items we HAD to include in our creation. Then, they set us loose in the Michael’s store for 10 minutes with a $50 gift card to buy anything else we needed. It was kind of funny – the camera man was chasing me around the store!! After that, they gave us 1.5 hours to build our masterpiece. Half-way through they presented us with a “wild card” item that we also HAD to incorporate. I’m telling you – this wildcard item was completely unrelated – panic mode. Next, the judges deliberated and picked a winner. My show will be on their Web site on March 18th, so I’ll send a link to remind you. If you read the article on parenting I posted last week, you’ll understand what I mean when I say I’m glad to have participated, but maybe wasn’t so glad during the process!

Anyway, enjoy the video have a great week!!

  1. Love your card, Darlene…and oh my goodness, I couldn’t have done the Michael’s thing. Too stressful, plus it takes me hours to make a card. We don’t get Michael’s on TV up here (B.C. Canada), but if we did, I’d definitely be watching!!

  2. I love the card. And your coloring.
    Eveline.

  3. LOVE what you did with this stamp. So fun and cute.

Cute card! The Michael’s thing sounds fun and stressful! Can’t wait to see it. It reminds me of a tv show I saw a long time ago that was called something like “Craft Smackdown” and it was a live competition where they had to make things on the spot. I always thought that would be fun to watch.

  5. This card is SOOOO my daughter! As soon as I saw it, I thought of her . . . all dressed up, high heels, and loving that she has packages in her hands. LOL! She is “fabulous” and will be “forever fabulous” in her parents eyes! BTW, she is loving being in the Metroplex now! She landed her first corporate job at the Zales Headquarters which is basically in your neighborhood. She is missing her CrossFit & Zumba workouts though. I sent her your link and told her to check out your Zumba classes when she had time. She did join a gym though.

Anyhows . . . I really ADORE this card! Also I would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall when you did this craftin’ competition! You must be a brave individual!! Of course, we all know you have tons of talent though! I can’t wait to see it! :)

  6. Great card Darlene. Love the DP idea for the presents – gotta try that! Thanks so much.

  7. Beautiful card Darlene! Can’t get enough of your copic coloring! Thanks :-)

  8. Fabulous! Great coloring! Thanks for the tip about the holes and sanding. Clever!

  9. Another cute card as usual. But, more importantly, congrats on being chosen to compete on Michael’s Craft Masters! I would hate to have to craft under pressure like that. I hope you did well.

  10. I found your site via pinterest and have had the best time watching all of your videos. You are very inspiring to a newbie card maker like myself. Sadly, you have inspired away a lot of money on new supplies for me! I figure its a good investment for the long term.

Anyways I now look forward to Wednesdays to see what you have created next so I can utilize your techniques for my own cards.

    Until next time,
    Sarah

  11. I love your cards!!! this one is so cute!!! :)
    Thanks for sharing!!!
