A couple of things before we get to the card for this week…
- I decided on a charity! I’m really excited about supporting Foster Kids Charity. To learn more about how and why I selected this charity, CLICK HERE.
- I signed up to be an affiliate for Dick Blick Art Materials. As an affiliate, I get a commission on sales when you link to their site from my blog!!! So, if you are planning to place an order there anyway, please be sure to get there from here. I regularly post my cards to the Two Peas gallery and have gotten many of my non-SU supplies there. I found better pricing/shipping on Copic markers at Dick Blick than where I was originally getting them from, so that’s why I signed up at Dick Blick.
Okay, so now for this week’s card! I went through a period of obsessive-compulsive-paper-flower-buying about 18 months ago. I love paper flowers, but I feel like I hardly ever use them! Well, I got out a bunch of my flower bags and selected some. The first few that came out of the bag were turquoise and orange. I thought, “Why not?”.
The frame is cut out using Spellbinders Labels and then dry embossed with a Tim Holtz brick pattern. When I first created the card, I used orange stripes on the background. Didn’t work. Then I tried a turquoise polka dot that I stamped off first. The difference between that and the orange was amazing. Sometimes you just have to try out a couple of options to see what looks best! The dots stamp is actually a new one from Stampin’ Up! this year – they are “distressed dots”, so they don’t stamp completely solid – I like it a lot!!
Anyway, if you have a bunch of flowers laying around, try it out! Note: The flowers in my supply list below aren’t the exact flowers I used in this card.
Enjoy and have a great week!
