Hi All!
This week’s card features a new Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Up, Up & Away. Isn’t it so cute?
I must do a shout-out to Becky J. in Cincinnati, OH. She sent me a couple of her cards that used this cloud technique. So cool! Except for the balloons, the whole card is just one layer. The first time I did the clouds, it came out perfect. I was thinking, “wow – so easy!!”. The next time, it took me about 3 tries to get it the way I wanted it. So, be patient as you experiment!
I know questions will come up on my adhesive application in this video. It is a massive adhesive applicator that is pretty heavy, but it’s very economical. It is a 3M ATG 700™ Gun. It takes some time to get used to, but it works great. Beware: once you stick, it’s stuck.
Have a great week!

Thanks for visiting my video blog! I post a new video every Wednesday and sometimes an extra when I have time.

This card is absolutely, positively stunning! I love everything about it! Its so fun with the brightly colored balloons too! I just ordered this set and will definitely be casing it as soon as I pull the stamp set out of my box! Thanks so much for sharing your video and complete instructions!
Love this card Darlene!
Is there a specific brand of masking tape you use for your cards? Or will any brand of masking tape work?
I would buy that stamp set just to have the flying birds, even if it didn’t have all of the other amazing stamps you’ve shown. I was raised on the ocean (Canada’s east cost) and one of my favorite things was watching the seagulls fly to shore over the water. It’s amazing how much emotion and memory can be evoked from looking at a card…thank you!
Your card is beautiful. I look forward to your videos each week. You make everything look so easy! Thanks for sharing
Great card, Darlene!! I bought that big ATG tape dispenser a while back and haven’t used it enough to get used to it… it definitely has a learning curve! LOL!! Thanks for showing how to use the cloud template. I’ve read about doing that kind of cloud sponging on so many blogs, but no one ever showed how they used the template and I had never taken time to play around with it. Hopefully I won’t have to wait too much longer to get back to some cardmaking around here. Thanks for your videos!!
Another great card Diane. I agree this stamp set is truly neat. Thanks for sharing the technique you learned.
WoW! Love your Balloons and shading. Nicely done. I need to get this set.
Regarding the ATG gun, one great bonus is that once you’ve laid down a strip on your paper and find you’ve put the glue in the wrong place…you can just roll the glue tape off with your finger and no harm to your paper. Someone I know calls it “booger tape” for this reason.
I have also found that the tape can be somewhat forgiving if you’ve placed the item and want to move it. Just gentley insert bone folder between layers and carefully pry apart.
Love my ATG and know you will too.
What a wonderful card. And what a wonderful stampset. I love the shading.
Lots of hot air balloons come over in the summer and sometimes they start at a field at the end of our street. They look so small in the air but some of them are really huge.
Eveline.
I love this card. Your shading on the balloons makes them look so rounded. Well done.
I love your tip of inking the edge of the balloons, it really does make them look rounder! Oh boy, I love those birds, if only there was just a tiny stamp with just those birds on it! Fantastic tutorial again! Love your work!
fabulous!!! Thanks for the video
Maria
FABULOUS way to make clouds! I can’t thank you enough for sharing this.
I look forward to all your videos… you are quickly becoming my favorite card artist!
Please keep them coming.
I started making cards about 10 years ago after I went to my first Stampin’ Up party and have been hooked ever since. You make the most fabulous cards I have ever seen in so many different categories. I can’t wait for Wednesdays to see what you have come up with. This one is spectacular and I am going to become one of your customers today! I must havae this set!
As always, you made my Wednesday. What a fun card. Thank you!
Wow … this is one stunning card …. those balloons just pop right off the page and your colouring is superb!!!
I love your style and I thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us!
@Catherine – to be honest, I ripped off the label of my masking tape roll, so I don’t know what brand I have. I’ve only seen the big roll one time, so I bought it up quickly! Any brand will work – the trick is finding a wide roll.
Hi Darlene, Another fantastic card you have shown us this week! I really loved the way you made your own background. So often I just layer different colours of card because my design papers never seem quite right for what I need. I am now inspired to create my own backgrounds on my cards and can’t wait to dig out my dappers and have a go.
Hi Darlene,
You mention the masking tape for your clouds. I remember you got it at a scrapbook event. Do you know anything else about it? It doesn’t seem like the traditional masking tape we get at Home Depot, right? I would like to maybe purchase some but all my on-line searches so far come up with the regular stuff. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Lisa
Wonderful card…love the clouds!
This is the most beautiful card i have ever seen!
Thanks for sharing…
Jo
Fantastic card!!! And you make it all look so effortless
Thank you for sharing – learned a bunch from your video!
The card is wonderful and oh so simple. I am going to make one.
You made me smile when you were making the clouds. I am the
same way. Thank you for sharing your wonderful card with us.
I have the Stampin’ Up set and now I’m really excited to get it out.
I’ve never used it.

I just received this set in the mail and have already used it! It makes such fun cards! Love the clouds and would love to figure out a way to make mountains the same way. I have seen pictues of these beautiful hot air balloons out west with mountains in the background.
Wowsers. THIS IS GROGEOUS! Love your video… those clouds look AMAZING and the different generation stamping of the greenery down the bottom is so effective! LOVE, love love it!
