Wednesday’s Card: Pocket Full of Hearts

Pocket Full of Hearts

Happy Wednesday!

I went on a scrapbooking retreat this past weekend – so fun!! I completed 44 pages. It was so nice to just focus on being creative and not have to worry about cooking, cleaning, being a referee to kid fights, etc. I mean, I totally missed the kids, but it was nice to have a little break.

Anyway… today’s card has an envelope on the front that I created using a hand-made template. OK, so my template is really crooked and off – not very good. I had to fix it after cutting it (you’ll see in the video). So, what I would recommend is that you buy the Sizzix die that will create this envelope for you – it is now on my list! There are so many uses – you could have a birthday surprise inside, butterflies flying out, etc. I”ll have to do some of that after I buy the die.

And speaking of buying stuff… Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration started yesterday!! Free stuff for every $50 you spend. Check it out HERE!

The inside of the card says, “Sending love your way”. I forgot to take a picture of it, but you see me stamping it in the video.

Have a great week!

Song: Clocks by Coldplay.

  1. Thanks for sharing this awesome heart card. found it at the Palette & Paper Blog 🙂

  2. Nothing wrong with that envelope, and this card is stinkin’ cute! Guess I need that stamp set and punch.

  3. I saw this card on Pinterst and loved it! So, I had to copy it. I have you full credit however. Here’s my post:

Love your blog! You have a new follower….

  4. Love this card. Great to have video to go with. I found your site on Pinterest.

Hi I love your designs I wished I could watch your videos but youtube doesnt let me is there a way I could see it someplace else cause of the audio I cant see it 🙁

    • Darlene DeVries says:

Hi Stephanie, I used to use music in the background of my videos (this video is one of them), so some of them got blocked in countries outside the US. I stopped using the music a long time ago, so only the very old ones cannot be seen. You should be able to see all of the current videos. I posted some of the old ones with audio problems here: Unfortunately, this video is not one of them. Sorry about that!

  7. Hi Darlene,

Regarding Pocket Full of Hearts (originally posed 1/25/11) when I try to play your video, it says content blocked due to EMI copyright violation – assuming because of using Coldplay Clocks as the background musci. I would love to see this video – perhaps you could remove the music?

Thanks for posting these every week. You are an amazing (and inspiring) artist!

    • Darlene DeVries says:

@Val – I think YouTube must have just recently blocked that video because it wasn’t blocked before. I used to post my blocked videos here:

In the last year or so, I have not used popular/rights-protected music, so I haven’t had to deal with the issue anymore (thank goodness!). It’s a time consuming process to pull out the audio track and re-render it and upload again. If I get some extra time at some point, I will do it. I’m so sorry you are not able to see it. 🙁

  8. I found this wonderful card and your blog through pinterest! Love this! The pocket full of hearts is so sweet! I used this as an inspiration piece for a card I made. I will be posting it on my blog early next week! Thanks for sharing!

  9. LOVE it! I just made a version, myself, for a wedding!

  10. I made this card and was very beautiful, I used other alternatives. thanks for sharing. The card is in my blog, hows your credits.

  11. I love your card! I’m wondering if you would be willing to give me the measurements for your “pocket”. I’d love to case it. Thanks very much.

    • Darlene DeVries says:

Kim: The envelope is a square 2 1/8″. The front flap is 1 3/8″ high, and the sides come in 1/2″. The top fold-over flap isn’t visible, but it’s about 1 inch so that you have something to adhere the hearts to. Good luck!

  12. Wow, this card is beautiful! I definitely want to make it and am planning to buy some supplies. I had a question. I noticed that the paper punch you had looked different from the one on the Stampin Up website. Did Stampin Up change the look of their punches? I want to make sure that the heart stamps and the paper punch are the same size before I make that investment. Also, where did you get the “sending love your way” stamp? I love this card so much and can’t wait to try it!

  13. I am in love with this card! I love this idea and think I’m going to steal it! And I love Coldplay. I thought it was quite dramatic in the video when you took out the heart punch, I thought for sure you were going to cut all those little hearts out by hand! 🙂
